The routine vaccinations for dogs are:

  • Rabies vaccination, administered once a year.
  • Distemper/parvo (DA₂PP) vaccination, administered once a year.
  • Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine, administered every six months.

The rabies vaccination is required by law. The distemper/parvo vaccine is highly recommended and is required before boarding, grooming, or surgery. If you plan to schedule your dog for any grooming or boarding services, we also require that you keep him/her up-to-date on the bordetella (kennel cough) vaccination. Further, it’s a good idea to consider having your pet receive this bordetella vaccination if he/she frequently comes in contact with other pets at a park or neighborhood setting.

The routine vaccinations for cats are:

  • Rabies vaccination, administered once a year.
  • FVRCP: feline alternative to distemper/parvo vaccination, administered once a year.

We also give a reduced price on the optional Feline Leukemia (FELV) vaccination. This vaccination is mainly for outdoor cats or those new to your home, strays, etc., for whom you have little or no history.

Keeping up with routine vaccinations is a matter of protection and prevention. We want to help you make sure that you are legally protected in the event that your pet is in an aggressive situation with another animal.

We offer this promotional service every Wednesday to benefit our community in several ways: to protect each companion animal in our care, to guard the welfare of the general public, and to advance our animal wellness program in this area.

Remember to check for an e-mail reminder from Verdin Vet Services to alert you when vaccinations are due!
